Why Chickens Peck At Each Other

We have 10 hens ready to go into their nearly finished new coop.  Currently, they are pecking at each other's tails in a much more smaller space.  I found some helpful behavioral explanations at the below links.  They include lack of protein, overcrowding and just simply not keeping busy enough.  You can also give your chickens fresh grass clippings, eggshells.  Allowing them to free range will get them all the protein they need by finding grubs, worms and insects.  You can also add a little sand and gravel to the coop floor as this will keep them busy scratching while in containment. If you are having this problem with your chickens, this article may help you as well.  Happy reading!
